Latest News

Local 90 Teamsters at Brenntag Great Lakes have unanimously approved a strong new collective bargaining agreement following a 60-day work stoppage. This work stoppage first began in February when the employer abruptly locked out workers following a rejection of a substandard contract offer. This lockout continued for 35 days until the employer begged for the workers to return to work with no substantive contract adjustments. This began the 25-day unfair labor practice strike. Workers braved blizzards and inclement weather, holding a 24/7 picket line with just 10 people. This was also made possible by the strong support from the community and other labor organizations. Thank you to all those who helped support this group. On Monday, April 13th, a tentative agreement was reached on a strong Teamster contract. Some of the improvements include:
Eliminated the 2-year pay progression
Paid Parental leave
Strong safety language including air quality monitoring
Drive Camera protection Language
AI/Automation protections
Social media protections
Improved job protections for discipline
Improved Sick Leave
Significant improvement to vacation schedule, accelerating progression to higher vacation tiers, including earlier eligibility for three (3), four (4), and five (5) weeks of vacation based on lower years of service
Increased Pension contributions
Expanded union steward rights
Increased per diem
Expansion of Health & Welfare continuation during illness/off-the-job injury from four weeks to up to three months now.
Continuation of no-employee cost-share TeamCare health and welfare.
Strong wage increases.
“We stood together through rain sleet, snow and blizzards. Corporate greed could not break our Teamster solidarity. Brenntag started this fight, we finished it.”
– Dillon Strait Union Steward production worker Brenntag Great Lakes.
